Rosseti restores power bridge to Crimea promptly

MOSCOW, Jun 13 (PRIME) -- Engineers of Russian energy grid operator Rosseti have promptly restored operations of the Crimean power bridge after a breakdown at the Taman power substation in the Krasnodar Region at 3:07 p.m. Moscow time, a spokesperson for Rosseti said on Wednesday.

“It took Rosseti engineers slightly more than an hour… to restore power transmission via the Crimean power bridge fully,” the person said.

The company said that mobile gas turbine power plants located in the peninsula were used. Two aerial cable lines were launched in 40 minutes after that crash and all four lines started operations at 4:20 p.m. Moscow time.

On November 22, 2015, power lines running from Ukraine to Crimea were blown up and all power supplies to the peninsula stopped. Power supplies later resumed but were scarce and unstable.

Russia launched the first line of the 4-line power bridge from the Krasnodar Region in December 2015 and the fourth one in May 2016.
